October 8, 2008
To all our Customers,
On October 7, 2008, Dunn’s Famous learned, through our regular testing and quality control procedures at one of our manufacturer’s plants, that certain products for sale at Costco stores may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Upon confirmation of the test results, we immediately advised Costco to remove the affected products from its stores and it has done so. The products were limited to Dunn’s Famous Smoked Meat 1kg packages from Costco stores in Quebec, Atlantic Provinces and Ottawa.
Specific Products:
Dunn’s Famous Smoked Meat 1 kg packages containing 6 pouches of 175 g and
BEST BEFORE dates 2008 NO 01 and 2008 NO 02
I want to assure you that none of the products sold or consumed at our restaurants have been affected by this situation. In addition, Dunn’s Famous Smoked Meat sold at Costco in other locations and in Costco Resto Clubs are not affected as all of these products are produced at other locations.
For more than 80 years we have upheld the highest standards of product quality. Through this commitment of regular testing we were able to discover the contamination and were able to act quickly and remove the product from the stores. We are working with our manufacturer to ensure that product is not released from the plant until tests confirm the products are safe for consumption. This is our commitment to you so that you know you can continue to enjoy our great products.
